So the search begins

We started looking for an apartment in mid-December, but with the holidays and travels we were only able to visit two apartments, neither of which we really loved.

Here is what we are looking for:

-1 bedroom (or 2 bedroom if we can afford it)

-elevator

-old building (1920s/30s at the latest)

-étage élevé (higher floor – preferably French 4th, 5th, or 6th/American 5th, 6th, 7th)

-cave (cellar)

-other extras that would be nice would be a concierge, and a balcony

We are pretty flexible on the neighborhood.  The 16th, 17th, 19th, and 20th are out because they are too far on the outskirts of Paris.  Realistically so are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th because most one bedrooms in those districts will be out of our budget.  But that still leaves plenty of other neighborhoods to explore and discover.  In the coming posts I’ll describe the neighborhoods that I visited and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Advice, comments, and leads welcome =)
