On the latest episode of sold in under 24 hrs

This apartment was listed today and by the time I called around 5 pm it was already sold:

Vintimille/Ballu. Dans un immeuble Pierre de Taille de standing avec ascenseur, 2 pièces de 39m² au 2ème étage avec balconnet. Plan sans perte de place avec séjour, cuisine dînatoire et salle de bains. Traversant plein Sud. –

Highlights: Stone building from the 1900s with elevator, 39m2 (about 400 sq ft) one bedroom, 3rd US floor with little balcony, southern exposure.  In the 9th. 7666€/m2.  Absolutely nothing notable about the interior except what looks like a marble bathroom with a bay window?  and the horrid yellow paint, of course:

Is that a compass on the floor?

Listing here before it’s deleted.

    Ouch, that’s scarily fast. I guess someone saw beyond the yellow paint to some great potential.

    Oh absolutely – it has the “bones” and location, I’m sure it will look fabulous with a fresh coat of paint. I would have gone to look at it had I had the chance!

    I’m curious to know why you automatically eliminated the 19th and 20th arrondissements. I live on the edge of this zone in Belleville, but there are some fantastic places in this area, particularly around the Jourdain Metro station (which is itself 10 minutes from the Hotel de Ville or Chatelet!). There are many apartments similar to the ones you are looking for, and it is one of the highest points in the city, so with great views!

    You know, good point about the views and Buttes-Chaumont is lovely. And I think we would probably be able to afford something bigger in those neighborhoods. Maybe one of these days we’ll spend an afternoon there exploring to figure out which parts we like and don’t like. But they just seem so far for the work commute. The pressure is on now because we HAVE to buy before the end of February if we want to benefit from certain tax/mortgage advantages that will no longer be available come March. So thank you for the suggestion, I will definitely keep it in mind. And I could no longer find the listing for that crazy building in the 18th so I guess it sold.
